Cities: Skylines - Content Creator Pack: University City Review (The Great Linguini)
Buying this pack is a great way to give thanks to a creator in this game's community.
Additionally, buying this pack gets you some neat assets from the legendary "KingLeno," a prolific creator in the CS community. In the case of this pack, from them you're getting a bunch of residential buildings and several great commercial buildings. These are all on the low density side.
Something really great about this pack is that most of the residential assets have a sort of progression system to them. They'll start as a kind of run down version of the building. When they level up, as opposed to the usual process where a completely different building gets built on the lot, these buildings remain the same structure, but change in appearance. Some trash might get cleaned up, a broken down car might get fixed, the building might get a fresh coat of paint. It is honestly a really cool thing to see; although, hey, you can totally make the buildings historical at any stage if you want to preserve a specific look.
Now, the one big problem this pack has is the lack of a district style. I don't really get why this wasn't a thing. It's a little baffling to be honest. These assets will just pop up wherever. That's mostly fine, but sometimes you do want a specific area to have a specific theme. You can still do this by, essentially, micromanaging what develops and/or utilizing mods. It's admittedly annoying, but that isn't the creator's fault by any means. Ultimately, as annoying as it can be, it is nothing that I feel is worthy of downvoting this pack over.
These assets are great. They're realistic and they give your city character, whether it is a "university city" or not. Some of them do a decent job bridging the gap between low density and medium/high density residential, and I really must commend them for that as well.
So, yes, I recommend picking this pack up, especially so as part of the Community bundle(s).
