Cities: Skylines - Airports Review (notkallenie)
Disclaimer: As of the time I'm writing this, I've only just bought this DLC a day ago. So I don't know much.
I bought this DLC when on sale, which I recommend you do aswell. Other than that, this DLC seems pretty fun. Having the ability to create your own custom airports give you more of that "realistic" city feel, aswell as the fact as the concourse hubs have their own metro lines and custom transportation options have been made for this DLC. This makes the DLC with Mass Transit a pretty good duo. The refuel stations are a good addition, but it's only decoration and has no real use.
Although, there are some differences here. Most of the things that in real life are supposed to actually serve a use, just doesn't in the game. Hangars, ATC, parked planes, etc., serve no use. You can't even intersect a runway. It's probably better off using one runway anyway because no one would use the other one as long as that runway is smaller.
Of course there are more things due to state, but this review is getting long enough already, so let's just head straight to the pros and cons.
Pros:
-Ability to build your own custom airport
-Allows you to get more tourists in your city, instead of the built-in airports
-New exclusive transit options, new airport buses
-Can make your own airline
-Can make your own cargo airport without using Industries DLC (not sure, actually)
-Ploppable Aviation Museum, can attract tourists
-3 new maps and policies, 2 new Chirper hats, and 5 new achievements
Cons:
-Airport runways cannot intersect
-Only four places for taxiways to connect to each runway
-Taxiways only one way, no two way option
-No airport parking lots
-More than one plane on a single runway at the same time, can seem unrealistic
-Planes have collision turned off
-Tarmac only restricted to plopped decorations or aircraft stands
-Hangars have literally no use
-Sometimes no one would use your airport, if there's two, then the smaller one might be busier
-No terminal gates, It's just Ryanair style boarding
-Terminal network has built-in roads, but you cannot actually connect your own roads to the terminal's roads
-The AI literally sucks. Say my airport has two runways, all the planes will use the bigger one instead of the other one.
-ATC tower is literally decoration, serves no use. Same is with parked planes, hangars, etc
Probably not everything, but now...
I'd give the DLC a solid 6.75/10.
Why not 10? Well, decoration problem, runways can't intersect, you know the deal.
Oh yeah, forgot to say, this DLC is not worth the price. Buy when on sale.
