Circuit Superstars Review (Golden_Chryssalid)

Circuit Superstars is one of those games that feels like it was made just for the Steam Deck. All of my time spent so far has been on the Deck, with no issues at all.
Overall a great racing game to grab if you don't have the time for a long gaming session. The handling models for the various cars stand out immediately, and the Grand Prix mode gives you a reason to try out everything. It's just easy enough that it stays enjoyable, but there's still a lot of skill involved in putting good times in. The livery editor is another thing that I enjoyed as well. I've got to make my car as red as possible, I'm pretty sure it adds extra horsepower when you do that! ;-)
I've finished the Grand Prix mode on the middle difficulty or higher, and the AI can put up a good challenge. Learning the car you're driving is a must if you want to play in the higher levels. I haven't touched Online mode as I currently have no interest in it. It may be something I try in the future. The Time Trials are a nice option, and I've spent a little while trying to work my way up the leaderboard.
There are some things that could be improved, but they're not game breaking. I wouldn't mind seeing some more vehicle variety other than colors. While it's all right for all Formula One, trophy trucks, sprint cars, etc. to look exactly the same, it's a bit funny when every muscle car is exactly the same! The AI on lower difficulty levels can also be a little dumb, they will sometimes stack up on a sharp turn and be stuck there for 15+ seconds. It would also be great to have more options for racing in the Grand Prix mode, but I can understand that the replay value of the game is geared toward the online aspect.
Overall it's a very enjoyable game, and definitely worth the money. Especially if you can find it on sale!
