Chivalry: Medieval Warfare Review (Rhizzy)
Is it worth playing in 2022? Probably not. Still a good game, it paved the way for others in the genre, but at this point in time it is a bit dated, especially compared to the available alternatives.
The game has about 50 - 200 active players and they are mostly EU, so playing from NA makes the ping go boom. This makes combat feel laggy and unresponsive. There is also the obvious case of small community being filled with seasoned vets who know how to fight perfectly; learning the combat for new players will be extremely frustrating. These people also like to troll, stalemate or prolong matches, and there are mismatches with one sided dominations. The frame rate is locked to 62 FPS which makes it really difficult to play. This can be unlocked in an .ini file to get to 120 FPS, a bit better but still not ideal.
Not worth your time. Instead, there is Mordhau which has thousands of active players. And Chivalry 2 is a thing, soon to be out on Steam as well. Both much better choices at this time.
