Chivalry 2 Review (ModestBanana)
Great game, not so great developers. I liked this game so much I bought it again and started playing it here on Steam (I have ~600 hours on the Epic games store version, which was released like a year before the steam release). They also talked about letting us transfer progress when it was finally released on steam (but didn't, and never talked about it again, a theme veteran players are all too familiar with)
Torn Banner really fumbled the bag on this one and lost so much potential in this game. Best thing they could do now is permanently drop the price, allow private servers, and let the modding community take over. Mods will create new life in this dead boi, Helm's Deep with Chivalry 2 combat, imagine! Ranked servers, new player friendly servers, etc.
As of now the new player experience is to skip the tutorial and join 64 player team objective (against players with 100s-1000s of hours played) where you go 2-20 KD every game for a few hours then uninstall. I love this game, and I hate seeing players have such a terrible experience and quit without fully unlocking the potential to have fun, because once you have full control over your game, the opportunities to have fun are endless. But I also know a lot of OG players who have quit (and I miss them, dearly).
This game is a sandbox for creativity and fun, all the templates are there, the mechanics are there, it just needs to have it's gate open by the devs. Give us private servers and mod support and you'll see a second wind in this gem whose potential is being stunted.
