Cassette Beasts: Pier of the Unknown Review (CatNealRages)
This DLC is a complete waste of money and added features that actually ruin the game.
For starters the DLC is roughly ¼ the price of the main game, so you would expect it to have at least ¼ the content. It does Not at all. It only adds 12 monsters and the map area is tiny. It has 4 bosses, but 3 of them are exactly the same. It took me about 20 mins to complete the DLC and catch all the monsters. So, the money for the content is not worth it.
Now for the real problem, if you play the DLC it will Ruin the post-game of the main game. This is because of Machine Curse. This move on its own needs to be removed from the game. It is a decent gimmick for the DLC, but the problem is, after you kill a boss, it gets added to the Train Gauntlet. So now the boss pool is riddled with Machine Curse.
If you are not familiar with it, Machine Curse turns your passives back against you, so this one move makes dozens of other moves not only useless but hurt your team. This means you can Not use passives at all in the train Gauntlet now. If you do, then you will lose your streak every other train car and never get anywhere. It will be a slow slog of having to lose and switch your team out to counter Machine curse then switch back to your main team. Or just scrap your main team and always play at a handicap in case Machine Curse pops up.
Having one move destroy your team building potential is ridiculous and just ruins the fun of the game for me. The only way for me to potentially fix this would be to scrap my 60 hour save file and make a new one without playing the DLC. And at that point I am just done with this game.
Do Not Buy This.
