Broken Lines Review (Hawkdriver)

I really wanted to give this game a thumbs up. I enjoyed playing it…
I wish there was a way to provide a neutral review. I’m giving it a thumbs down to draw attention to the negative aspects for folks considering purchasing…
Positives:
The game is entertaining, that is the most important thing right?
Gameplay is pretty good all things considered.
Tactical interface and combat mechanics are interesting. It is similar to X-COM, but nowhere near as good.
Game doesn’t take itself too seriously.
Graphics are acceptable.
Negatives:
The game doesn’t feel finished.
There are minor annoying graphical glitches.
The campaign storyline is dumb and doesn’t make sense. It feels like a childish choose your own adventure. I probably wouldn’t have purchased if I knew how silly the campaign and expansion stories are…
The positive/negative interactions between your soldiers and repercussions are dumb. The character personalities don’t make any sense and are dumb stereotypes.
You can’t pick up enemy weapons, but a silly shopkeeper follows you around and trades with you for scrap…
Weapon and sight ranges are too short.
Weapon stats don’t make any sense.
Composure mechanic at camp is dumb.
Most of the random events are dumb.
The tutorial doesn’t really explain all the things you should know about the game.
Your soldiers will run right in front of friendly fire.
The enemies are fairly stupid. They are mostly static without teamwork even when you turn up the difficulty.
You have to replay the game three times to play all of the missions…
The game is really cartoonish...
