Bore Blasters Review (Mooty!)

EDIT: Added addendum to review, leaving the original
As an old fan of Motherload, I really dig Bore Blasters and had a good time.
The game still has some rough edges a month after its release though.
-You'll quickly run out of things to spend gold on before you've uncovered half the map
This is something that has probably been brought up a lot already. Please either bump the cost of the upgrades or supply more content to purchase. Anything to better balance the spending vs gaining really.
I didn't find the game to be particularly difficult, perhaps due to being fully upgraded rather quickly? I never really struggled for fuel either.
-Lack of a quest log
I feel quests were something that would just pop up, I'd do them, get a reward but not much else.
The problem I want to tackle here is the fact that I've finished every single level on the map, but didn't even unlock the third character. Where do I go? What do I do? I'm not about to randomly replay maps in the hopes of uncovering things I've missed, especially not if I already have over 15mil in the bank with nothing to spend it on.
The issues I've described really bummed me out by the end, especially since I explored the entire map (after having purchased all upgrades a long time ago) but didn't get the 100% achievement (because I haven't completed all content obviously).
Perhaps it would've been beneficial for the game to have launched in Early Access for a short period to iron out some of these issues, because the game itself is rocksolid.
Despite that, I still enjoyed Bore Blasters and will definitely come back for another run when my main grievances are fixed with QoL updates down the line.
LATER ADDED: Apparently, the problems I was experiencing can be directly traced back to me never having switched to the newly unlocked character! There was no indication this was to be necessary for quest lines, I assumed it was merely optional.
This is one of those things that would've been found and resolved with some Early Access testing for example.
I get the devs may have assumed "They unlocked a new character, surely they'll go try it out?" but this simple oversight has definitely caused some people to miss out on the rest of the game, because there was no way for the player to know they were missing something.
It could be fixed by either letting everything unfold with the first character or steering the player more forcefully toward trying out the second character at least once.
