Borderlands 2: Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt Review (TF2 Radio)

Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt — a DLC that feels like a side mission with extra steps (and it’s mid)

8 hours on record (main + side missions)
Bought it as part of a bundle for $2 during the June 11 sale. 🧃
Included in the bundle:

Captain Scarlett and Her Pirate's Booty
Collector's Edition Pack
Collector's Edition
Creature Dome
Creature Slaughterdome
Mechromancer Pack
Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage
Premier Club
Psycho Pack
Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt
Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep
Ultimate Vault Hunter Upgrade Pack

🛠 Performance & Gameplay

Ran smoothly on my potato laptop 🥔 (specs linked below), just like the other DLCs.
But... the collision boxes on some environmental objects (like rocks) are way too big. Sometimes it felt like I was walking on air because the invisible walls were larger than the object itself.
Also, the hovercraft? More like suffer-craft. 😩
It’s clunky, awkward, and struggles to cross even tiny rocks in shallow rivers. Ironic, considering it’s supposed to hover...

🗺 Side Missions
Side quests are supposed to build the world, introduce lore, and expand your experience. But this DLC?
Almost every mission involves silent, lifeless monsters. 🧟‍♂️
No real characters, no depth. Just kill quotas.
The only side mission I actually remember is "I Like My Monsters Rare," and that’s because of how ridiculous it is — you have to hunt rare monsters that spawn maybe twice per game load (if you're lucky), and kill 8 of each. It’s not fun, it’s just... exhausting.

The DLC opens like a side mission.
Sir Hammerlock invites you on a monster hunt, and you agree because hey, why not? But Hammerlock barely does anything. He just fixes Catch-a-Ride stations, then chills in a cabin for the rest of the DLC. Bro doesn't even tag along. 🤨
There are basically two characters with actual face time: Hammerlock and Claptrap. Everyone else appears only via ECHO as 2D portraits. No depth, no development, no memorable moments.
Also, this DLC has no connection whatsoever to the main storyline or what's happening in the real world. No mention of Lilith, the Crimson Raiders, or any major characters from the main game — unlike Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, which was deeply tied to post-story events.
This whole DLC feels like the Vault Hunter just went, “Welp, I’ve got nothing better to do — guess I’ll go monster hunting with Hammerlock to kill time.”
It’s truly a side quest in every sense.
Even the final boss is a letdown.
You fight a genetically modified monster, and when its creator (Professor Nakayama) shows up... he trips down the stairs and dies instantly. 😐
I mean, sure, it’s kinda funny, but I wish he injected himself with some mutagen or something to become a second-phase boss. His motivations were there — reviving Jack, proving his research, all of it! He could’ve gone full mad scientist... but nah, stair death. 🪜☠️

💀 Final Thoughts
Mid-tier DLC at best.

Forgettable side quests
Main story has zero impact
Some janky object hitboxes
Vehicle feels like a hovercraft in name only

Don't buy this at full price. Bundle it or skip it.
