Bloodshore Review (ParisC)
Steam Deck performance review for Bloodshore.
This game is listed as 'playable' on the steam deck but be warned. THIS GAME IS NOT OPTIMISED FOR THE STEAM DECK! Here is my steam deck performance review after spending 2.4 hours with the game. I was able to power through and complete the game once but I gave up while trying a second playthrough because of how frustrating it is (read below). I will be moving to the PC to experience the rest of the game and get the other achievements. This was strictly a steam deck PERFORMANCE review. If you want a full review of the game, there are plenty of reviews online.
Problems Encountered
Multiple game freezing: About 40 mins into the game, it froze. I had to restart and replay a large section. After passing that section, it froze again about a minute after. Restarted, replayed then it froze again at an earlier point. Restarted again for a 4th time, replaying everything again only to freeze again about 30 mins afterwards and then again 10 mins and again after 5 mins. These all include restarting the game and replaying huge sections of the game, the scenes were unskipable.
I finished the game and on my second playthorugh it froze 6 times, each time I had to restart and replay and watch huge section. When it froze for the 7th time, I had enough.
Battery Life
Using the original LED steam deck and running the game at the default setting with 50% brightness, I was able to complete the game in about 2 hours with about 60% battery life remaining. It is safe to assume it will probably last +5 hours in a single charge
Overall
Avoid this game on the steam deck if you value your mental health. Play it on the PC.
