Bleach: Rebirth of Souls Review (ShinyNumber1)
Positives
-Intuitive, creative, stylized and most importantly fun battle system that creates an enjoyable gameplay loop
-Battle mechanics are well thought out that allows for fair character expression in a way that is very faithful to the series that it's adapting
-Characters are designed well enough to the point that optimal playstyles can differ quite a lot between two characters of the same archetype
-Stunning visuals from the character models to the stage design
-Good training mode that allows you to practice and lab out specific scenarios
-Good tutorial that allows you to learn the game in a fairly short amount of time
-Incoming balance patches, ranked mode and DLC content to keep the game fresh after a while
-Levels in story mode have extra goals that can give more rewards or special cutscenes, which is cool for the completionists
-Secret story mode that reveals a lot of fun information
-A missions mode where you can run the gauntlet in consecutive fights with your character of choice
-An amazing original soundtrack for the game (but I kind of wish that a few of the anime tracks were included as a bonus too)
Negatives
-The non-cosmetic content only covers 3/5 arcs of the series
-Lack of character models, forcing them to cut content or create messy workarounds for story mode
-Some very obvious shoehorn in characters were annoyingly cut from the multiplayer
-Tracking which levels you've 100% in story mode is a nuisance
-The giant character archetype is incredibly annoying and 1 dimensional to fight against *by design*
-The *entire* online experience kind of blows (which isn't atypical for fighting games, but you'd expect them to have at least tried in the year 2025)
-Insane ammount of glitches and bugs at launch (although most of them were gradually patched out by now)
-Bleach is a series that is well known for it's fashion, making the lack of outifts (cosmetics) disappointing. Especially so when the outfits are already in the story mode, but not accessible outside of it.
I think that's about it. I personally have fun with the game. If you like Bleach, I'd recommend giving it a try, but if you don't already like Bleach going into it, it's a harder sell because of the glaring negatives.
