Blazing Sails Review (Shaggin Wagons)
Did you love the ship repairing mechanics, naval warfare, ship-boarding, and overall aesthetic of Sea of Thieves, BUT hate how you can lose hours of progress if all your stuff is stolen?! Well then do I got a game for you! No seriously though, imagine Sea of Thieves arena mode but more refined. Different tiers of weapons, ship upgrades (swivel cannons, better capstan, wheel, pump, etc) Speaking of pump, your ship utilizes a bilge pump rather than you needing to bail water off the boat, so you focus on repairing holes and keeping the pump active. Cannonballs are much easier to see; rather than being in one of three red barrels, you can see every type and the amount you have. Repairing still takes wood, but not needing to bail water or pull up sails to fix a mast allows for longer and more intense combat. What I am trying to say with all this is Blazing Sails does a much better job of ship warfare and fighting in general. ITS SO ADDICTIVE! Shooting mechanics and melee is much better than SOT and the naval combat is insanely fun with a couple buddies, its the sea battles you always wished you'd have on SOT and occasionally got, but not like this. The different ship classes keep it fun and challenging as well since each has a different play style and advantages/disadvantages and no one can pick their ship, your crew is just given one type at the start. I had kinda gotten bored with Battle Royales but it adds a very interesting feature in a game like this and prevents big Galleons or Mortar ships from simply standing still and overpowering vessels. So....the less awesome stuff?
1. Multiplayer UI in the main lobby screen can be super buggy when trying to open loot boxes, or just in general. Games however run fine and I've noticed no real issues IN GAME.
2. (THIS MAY BE FIXED NOW WITH THE RECENT MATCH) In-game voice chat with crewmembers simply just does not work currently which can make playing with random people quite a challenge...or impossible...or they just handle their own. Or a mixture of all? So, I would highly urge playing with at least 2 buddies (its up to a 4 person crew)
Honestly for 15$ this game is well worth it if you have some friends to play with, any sale under full price is just an absolute steal.
