BioShock Infinite Review (Simon)
DO NOT BUY FROM STEAM!! FORCED 3RD PARTY LAUNCHER GARBAGE WAS ADDED TODAY WITHOUT WARNING OR CHOICE!!
I've started replacing my Steam library with games from GOG (and other places) because they don't do this. Your games bought on Steam will never be safe, you never know when this will happen or to what game. And if you've loved the game for years? Tough break, no refund because it's past the two-weeks-since-purchase refund period for Steam. This will be the third game that I paid for, downloaded, enjoyed for years, and then lost to unreliable 3rd party software forced on me through Steam. Thanks Steam, that's really uncool. None of my games library feels safe now. What are you going to take from me next?
Get this game from somewhere other than Steam if you want to play it. Steam will sell you one thing, then turn around and add a bunch of garbage without asking or even informing you first. How long will it take them to mess up your save files with something that wasn't part of the original purchase, added without your permission? One week? One Month? One year? If it's longer than two weeks, no refund for you. But there's no two-week cap on how long developers can use their game as an excuse to force proprietary software onto your computer. Software that may die when it's no longer profitable to support, cutting off your access to the game entirely. Software that may track your behavior, like how long you play, when you play, your IP address and where you're located geographically, who else you play with, and anything else they can get. Software that was never essential to play the game until the parent company decided they could squeeze a few more bucks out of you. This has been going on for years. Shame on Steam for being a part of it.
