Absolutely incredible game but the PC port is absolutely BROKEN. Constant crashes. After doing the community sourced fixes (we're talkin manually editing code in the game files here ffs) I was able to get it running with almost zero crashes. Until the last level. That level crashes randomly from every 5 seconds to 5 minutes.
Because of this, I cannot recommend anyone buy this, it shouldn't even be available for purchase in this state. Considering how old it is and that they've made a remaster which is apparently somehow even worse than what I've described here, I don't see this ever being officially fixed. I have no idea how this sort of thing isn't lawsuit worthy. I know that sounds dramatic but seriously, the game is broken in an unplayable state, most everyone has this problem, that's class action lawsuit material all day. Companies need to be held accountable for bs like this. I don't mean Steam, although they should have stronger standards about this.
I know this is a whole rant at this point but ya know what, they got my money so they can hear me b***h about it: this is a AAA beloved franchise and both games are like this, even the remasters. This is completely unacceptable and I honestly can't believe things have gotten this bad in the industry/scene. It honestly blows my mind that this happens as much as it does, like way too many games are like this. I understand different PC specs etc but when basically EVERYONE has the problem it becomes something totally different.
I have 17hrs logged into the game and a lot of it is me having to redo stuff because of crashes.
