BioShock 2 Remastered Review (Lömsk Kråka)

TLDR: Game is ok, its combat got updated and feels great but with a far less intriguing story. However, never forget that the so-called “Quality of Life” “2k launcher” got bolted onto this game like a parasite and truly did not add anything of quality to a quite crash-riddled game..
So we return to rapture once more, this time as an iconic Alpha-series big daddy called Delta. The gameplay is an improvement from Bioshock 1 with a better combat system where plasmids and weapons can be used simultaneously to great effect. Some of the gameplay takes place outside of rapture this time around but these are simply railroaded sections that give you a small peek of the outskirts of the underwater metropolis. Sadly the story is quite lacking this time around and it might be hard to live up to the sheer success of the first bioshock (even though that story had a weird ending. Here we encounter a weird cult that operates under the leadership of a charismatic psychologist called Sofia Lamb. Otherwise it's more of the same narration through picked up recordings that paint a rather intriguing picture of the characters involved. The atmosphere and the setting is more of the same gritty downtrodden bentic-dystopia that we were introduced to in the first game, if you liked rapture before, this is more of the same..
Now to the crux of the thing. This game is quite unstable and crashes a lot during my playthrough. The first time I lost a good 1 hour of progress due to an unlucky crash just before the end of the level and after that I saved a lot. The game seems to flow fine up until 1-1,5 of active gameplay when it suddenly crashes. This is something that they could have addressed in the so called quality of life update, but no. Lets tag a storefront onto a 12 year old game instead, capitalism-ho..
In the end it is a fine addition to the Bioshock saga, not great, not terrible but the business model of 2K is abysmal to say the least..
