BioShock 2 Remastered Review (Epistle to Titus)

I've played this game for a long time, over the span of five years, including all of the DLC content such as Minerva's Den and the Protector Trials. This game is underrated and overshadowed by its progenitor and some would say its story is not as good as the first, although I fundamentally disagree and would even say it's better. It humanizes Ryan and records his growing doubts in maintaining a "hands off" society when threatened by the psychiatrist Sofia Lamb, whose clashing ideology largely reflects Utopian Marxism with religious communitarianist elements. Lamb despises nature and frequently seeks to use the splicers as a mechanism to impose a perfect society, meanwhile grooming Eleanor to be their prophetic leader. This is a more mature, less flashy storyline that might not appeal to some, but it's ultimately not for everyone.
Gameplay wise, it's superior to the first game in that you don't have to manually alternate between plasmids and weapons, but can use combinations which make it a lot funner against enemies; research is also less cumbersome. The only drawback with this game are the random crashes, which peak in the midpoint. It's annoying when you're just about finished gathering with a Little Sister and the program decides to shit itself out. I took a long break between multiple runs and was disappointed to see old problems that I thought would be fixed still persist. Apart from that, it's worth buying.
