Bears In Space Review (Steilon)
Bears in space was interesting, mainly because typically I am not huge into FPS games, I enjoy them but they aren't my favourite genre (if the lack of them in my reviews isn't a clue lol) but this is one I heavily enjoyed, the guns are silly yet unique with an equally unique upgrade system to it if not a little difficult to max them out granted, the game has some silly humour that I appreciate a bunch and there's a fair amount to find that always feels worth it, something I rarely ever feel in FPS games with collectables which says a lot, it's more than I can bear! But yeah good times game dood!
The full review time! So the game follows a one day from retirement space farer called Maxwell Atoms! On his ship transporting a criminal bear known as Beartanna, things get a little crazy and suddenly it's team up time! And when I say crazy I do mean crazy dood. XD
The game is obviously an FPS, ya got guns, a gun wheel to choose them from, a melee which is a big honking bear arm, a double jump and a dash, ya get quite a few guns at that, most with a meter that over time will fill and upgrade the gun for free! Either just making it more powerful or even adding a secondary shot type, it even gets a visual change too, not sure if that happens for every gun granted but it's definitely there for the ones I managed to upgrade dood.
You have health and armour like you would in say a game like doom, health and armour is limited to what you find in the field or bought at the shop for the game currency along with weapons and ammo limit upgrades, they are pretty chill about some heals respawning over time based on the area and enemy types which is cool dood.
The game is very humour based, it's a very slight issue but a lot of the jokes and funny moments are some of what's hidden in the game and some of them are reaaally well hidden! It made them feel worth it but there some even I couldn't find and that was with the secret radar you can buy each stage! Mainly because the game likes to lock you out of areas at times, it could have done with a checkpoint/save traveller option really but it makes what was a really fun game a little less fun having to search quite so hard for it all, even if they were typically well worth it dood.
The game is extremely open to everyone, like insanely so, there are settings that allow you to take barely any damage but all your damage will nuke them or vice versa, they have bullet auto track which if you are on controller I suggest because there is no aim option, they even give you the option to respawn after death rather than starting from a save point, the games all about fun at your own leisure/pace and it's a genuine blast because of it, I stuck to normal myself dood.
The music and areas are pretty fun for the setting, what's more the enemy types are shockingly varied for an FPS, heck the things you do including the references made are great! Possibly a little dated on a few so younger generations might not catch them but still fun times dood.
And that's it really, I guess I could mention there may be alternative stages unless it's just the achievements didn't pop for some levels and there is one thing I almost forgot which it happened each time to the point I felt as though it was intentional but three stages had a mini-game at the end, very fun but basic retro looking thing, at the end it always says "Imminent crash" and then...the game crashes XD it saves after so no need to worry there but it was a bit scary each time dood.
Thank ya'all for reading and if ya buy it I hope you all have a great time playing dood! ^-^
