Battlefield 2042 Review (<3 Beepy <3)
TL;DR: As a generic shooter to pass the time, it's "ok"... but it's still not a Battlefield title when put up against the others.
UPDATE 8/2/22: 1.2.0 patch fixed the performance issues introduced in their previous patch.
------
UPDATE: Their latest patch 1.1.0 broke the performance (again) and reintroduced stuttering and your game will grind to a halt with massive mouse lag.

What happens when your best devs leave after BF5 and you hire a COD manager to lead the remaining new hires? BF2042.
A game that has completely lost its identity and grasps at COD and battleroyals more than sticking to a tried-and-true (and popular) system. Take everything you loved about previous Battlefield games and remove it, dumb it down and then break the remaining things. There you have it in a nutshell. An absolute lack of weapons / gadgets to use compared to previous titles, a serious lack of well-designed maps and zero class systems in place. Any sort of "DLC" is now reduced to Season passes with largely useless cosmetics and a couple (2) weapons.
DICE/EA hasn't "learned from their mistakes" in fact, they've doubled-down on making more of them. Then telling the community that expecting features that all the previous titles had... is unreasonable (like a scoreboard).
They claimed BF2042 was their "love letter" to their community... well the letter simply reads "F**k you". I have zero faith in DICE to actually deliver a solid Battlefield title further. And if you are after a solid experience, BF4 would be the place to go.... because you won't find it here.
