Bandle Tale: A League of Legends Story Review (Adarayan)
I’m really sad for this game because there is so much potential and fun, but they failed.
The game is supposed to be a cozy game without too much farming, with a fun concept of crafting, cooking, and party organizing.
The design is beautiful, the music is great, some parts of the story are fun, and the idea of the moving house backpack seems fun. Many ideas are fun and original.
But sadly, they wasted all the potential of this game.
Not Explaining
I’m all up for not explaining everything in a game, but this game doesn’t really explain some of the really important mechanics (which I only understood pretty late in the game), but this is, as many comments, okay if it’s just a bit difficult.
Messy, Unfun System of Recipes with Badges
The worst thing, which destroys all the fun, is that they don’t really give you direction on where you have to go or what to do. The simple reason is that the whole game relies on you MUST unlocking some abilities/recipes with badges.
So, YOU must go to a certain place, do the quest halfway, obtain the badges for the recipe, and then realize that you also MUST start another quest without finishing it because you MUST unlock another badge for recipe. Then again, and again, and again without finishing a quest properly.
The game drives you around with the obligation to unlock badges for recipes/abilities in a chaotic, non-fun way. As a result, there is complete disinterest in the story, the quests, and the characters. In the end, like me, you just hate it because a cozy game, unlocking recipes should progressively make the game easier, providing more options and adding complexity in a fun and rewarding way. It shouldn’t feel annoying and difficult, with fewer options and added complexity for no reason.
This is sad and surprising because the creators did a great job achieving that with their previous game, Graveyard Keeper. Sometimes it was also clunky, but for Bandle Tale, this is beyond horrendous.
Not really worth it to buy.
