Backyard Baseball '97 Review (winty)
It's genuinely stunning what an accomplishment this rerelease is. For how beloved the Backyard Sports franchise has been for decades, it's been in a weird state since about 2010. Not only is the franchise under new ownership and the games are on the market again, this here is a phenomenal port (for lack of a better term). The game runs as smoothly in Windows 11 on my gaming rig as it did on my family's Gateway desktop back in the Pentium days. No ScummVM, no compatibility mode... it just works. Aside from the occasional new bug (more so when I try to run it on my Steam Deck), this is the exact same Backyard Baseball goodness that stole my gamer heart all those years ago. I've been a fan of the series since Football '02 and, if this is any indication, I expect even more greatness from it now with Playground Productions at the helm. Cheers, sports fans!
