Atomic Heart: Annihilation Instinct Review (Fasterarc5501)
GAMEPLAY
This DLC cranks up the combat encounters and makes them more frequent and more deadly, this DLC adds 2 new enemy types I think? They can be annoying but after just beating the main story and for how short this DLC I personally do not have a problem with it at all. The 2 new weapons I had alot of fun with especially the new melee weapon, the time slow ability was a very welcome addition to combat for me. The biggest negative to the gameplay is that they decided to not have all the base game guns in and only select abilities, that to me was jarring but I made do with what we are given. The new boss was alright kind of annoying to fight, people say that its too hard to kill I was playing on the "normal" difficulty and never died to the bosses, so I would disagree with that.
STORY
The story follows one of the two endings of the main game, and the story to this DLC all in all is decent I wouldn't say there is anything special to the story, I personally like NORA being over the top crazy AI but if you didn't like her then maybe this isn't going to be the best DLC for you.
WORLD
Not much to be said here the world like the main game is beautiful and has lots of interior areas, but the outside swamps are visually nice however can be mildly confusing to navigate.
CONCLUSION
This DLC while it is short can be easily completed within 4 hrs or less, it is a higher octane more combat focused and more difficult than the main game and that for me makes it more enjoyable from the gameplay side. Would recommend especially if you enjoy the main game, maybe purchase on sale as it is a very short DLC.
