As Dusk Falls Review (Loaf of Beans)

Awesome little story game. I wasn't sure about the way the game looked at first however it grew on me; it honestly feels like a picture book came to life and the voice acting holds up amazingly. The kids voice acting is actually surprisingly good.
I went into this game blind, which is how I recommend anyone else does. I was wondering where this game would go, but my brain couldn't even fathom how it actually went. The amount of choice is astonishing, and actually matters. I mean you WILL miss entire parts of the game with your choices; which I really like because it allows for some really refreshing replay-ability. These choices differ from a game like TellTales: The Walking Dead because even though it does have multiple choices, your choice is just a different way of seeing the same cutscenes; it reminds me of Fallout 4's dialogue tree which gives the illusion of choice but once you think about it you're actually always doing the same thing.
The characters react how you would expect, they also aren't just one note throwaways; even the ones who look like that on the surface have more that you can learn about them depending on your choices. I am keeping this review spoiler free so I won't name any names; however I'm sure you'll figure out which characters I'm talking about. Basically "source: trust me bro."
So to wrap up, As Dusk Falls is a brilliant story focused game in which choices are king. Although some people may be intimidated by a game that wants you to play through multiple times; I'd urge you to give it a try. Although the graphic-style may not be everyones cup of tea; if you can overlook that and push on with your playthough I would bet you wouldn't regret it.
