Arken Age Review (Fdruid)
This is the new big PCVR game period.
I mean, in the vein of Vertigo 2 this is a very well crafted and fun VR game. You have it all here, and nothing is presented as an obstacle or something annoying in the name of realism or something similar. Everything is FUN.
You have swords, and melee fighting is actually fun and works well. I'm gonna be harsh and say it's more fun than Behemoth which I was having fun with before this one. You can behead people and actually stab and parry, it works really well.
Then you have guns which are done well, physical reloading like swinging it back to make the cartridge load. I mean, that's always fun, I remember it was so much fun in Hover Junkers. But it's never clunky, you can reload and drop clips as much as you want but there's also a shortcut to keep shooting. Also it feels good to shoot down sights.
Then you have climbing and it's done well, reminds me of Beanstalkers. But it's also good for finding secrets and different paths which this game has a lot of.
World is visually stunning, very fresh designs and aesthetic. Even if production values are not off the roof, graphics are GOOD and art direction is the carry here. It feels familiar and alien at the same time.
I honestly think this game does everything right and deserves recognition by players all around. It's a game made with FUN in mind and a lot of attention to detail. And it shows. what you get is a fun game to play that engages you with actual mechanics left and right, while immersing you in a wonderful scifi/fantasy world (see? They did it, as they combined swords and guns in equal proportion).
To sum up, this is a fantastic sleeper hit, this is to me the VR GOTY of 2025, I don't care about franchises or licenses or big names. This is a dream come true for all of us PCVR fans.
Get it. Run don't walk as they say. Games like this are what you got the headset for,
