Arizona Sunshine Remake Review (T0X1N)
A fantastic remake of an absolute classic VR Zombie Shooter! A prime example on how remakes should be done!
What is there to say about this title that has not already been said? This game is quite possibly one of the best VR titles to date. The original Arizona Sunshine was the very first VR game that I ever played and got me hooked on this platform ever since. The remake completely improves on everything from the classic, the graphics, the sound effects, the gameplay, etc. Everything is better here. This is one of the best looking VR titles currently.
Basically, what Vertigo Games did here is take the mechanics from Arizona Sunshine 2, improved upon them and replaced the maps with remade Arizona Sunshine 1 levels. But they did a fantastic job! Plus, I cannot believe I am saying this, but, this has got to be one of the most polished on-release titles I have ever played. Not once have I ran into a crash or game-breaking bug during my playthrough. Got to give kudos to where its due!
Differences Versus Arizona Sunshine 2
One thing I did notice from this game versus Arizona Sunshine 2 is the gun handling is more polished here. In Arizona Sunshine 2, I had troubles double handling pistols and some of the rifles. In this game, they improved on this it seems. Plus they improved on the grabbing system as in AS2, if I would try to grab loot from the world I would either grab the trash around it or not grab it at all. Also, the inventory system was tweaked here versus 2 as well. No longer do you need to carry keys in an inventory slot, it goes into a key slot that shows up when you are near the door that uses the key. MUCH better than 2!
One other thing that improves on from Arizona Sunshine 2, kind of trivial, but you now have a virtual crouch button! This helps with items on the ground or in low cabinets, which in turn helps with the grabbing system. They also kept the way you access the menu by clicking on your wrist watch rather than a dedicated button just like the classic Arizona Sunshine. This is much preferred versus AS2 where it was handled with the right thumbstick. There was no need for this to hog a button on the controller, and I am glad the devs stayed with the Classic route for this.
Ending Thoughts
I totally recommend this title. Hands down, one of the best VR titles to date and a near perfect remake of a classic! Now, if they can just tweak Arizona Sunshine 2 with the improvements from this game...
