Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy Review (New World Fool)

These games play like homework. It's agonizing.
AA4 gets a pass. It feels a little lost rather than outright bad, and it has some good ideas like the Mason system- It could have used a stronger thesis and more time to marinate on its ideas because of how... let's say "narratively dissatisfying" the motives of Zak Gramarye and Kristoph Gavin are, but I can see what it wanted to be. Valant and Klavier are great characters, and so is Hobo Wright.
I genuinely don't understand what AA5 and 6 are going for other than "it's more ace attorney so we should raise the stakes without raising the stakes". They feel more kid friendly, and also are trying to have an overarching plot, but they're also not going into that plot... at all, sometimes. There would be substantial nuance if I were to go into individual cases of course, since there's plenty of below average quality cases in the first series as well, but those problems didn't feel systemic as a rule.
To say as little as possible, 5's biggest issue is that it's definitely written for kids and gives its own game away literal hours before it lets Phoenix/Athena know what the player knows, and 6's biggest problem (of which it has many) is that the threat level is so comically unbelievable that you know that the heroes are going to win anyways. The Avengers Issue. I know we expect to win in all of the games, but it's absolutely catastrophic how nonsensical the situations presented are in this game- mostly due to the DC act and what an actual dictator would do in a situation where they have PW held at gunpoint. How did they think something like the DC act was a good thing to put in Ace Attorney? It's a good thing they made him forget about Matt Engarde. Nahyuta directly compounds practically every issue in the game somehow.
There's a huge number of minor issues that I've frankly lost count of, but I can only say for sure that they're for a different audience.
Oh, and they better kill off Apollo because these backstories all surely contradict each other.
