Another Farm Roguelike Review (DerXder)
Really cute and pretty straight forward game. You start with a plot of land filled with resources and from there work it (by chopping trees, mining ores, and farming crops etc.) in order to earn enough money to pay your rent at the end of each week.
Pros:
-Really great price point for the game, it's a simple game good for killing time but can get pretty repetitive during longer bouts of play. I don't feel cheated by the price tag.
-The Dev seems really active in taking in feedback and making quality updates to the game, I've only played it a bit over the span of two days but between that time the game was updated with features users were asking for.
-Overall pretty relaxing, you're not on a day/night cycle so there isn't any time constraints (only your energy) for how much you can do in a day.
Cons:
-Up-grades are randomized. This isn't a terrible thing as it's rare to get a "roll" that has useless upgrades in it. BUT one of the upgrades is to get animals and I'm unlucky enough to have gone through to week 5 and still have not gotten the upgrade for it. I would like to see an update where maybe this upgrade specifically was moved to a place where you could purchase it and get it when you have the money vs. rely on rng to get it.
-Natural materials do not regenerate, the stone, ores, and trees on your island don't regenerate. Once you've mined or chopped out the area that's it. I have since completely mined through my area and coal is a really difficult resource to get now as I have to rely (again) on it randomly showing up in the shop and usually in low quantities.
-limited inventory, this is a super minor con imo as the "backpack" you're given holds quite a bit in it, but I wish it were possible to make a chest to keep your main materials in (like wood, stone, ores, etc) to keep free the space on you for larger harvest days.
Overall I really enjoy the game, it's being updated so it's possible some of the above things might get addressed in a future update, but even if they don't I'm satisfied with it as is.
