Aliens: Fireteam Elite Review (Delgato)
I've played all Aliens games since AVP1 and this game is probably one of the best of them. The game is polished, the atmosphere, sounds, weapons and enemies all feel right and fit in very well. Game play is fun both with friends, random people or alone.
This is also probably one of the multiplayer games with the least toxic communities, because of the unique "feature" that...well there is no voice communication or chat of any sort in the game so being toxic is kind of hard:) I don't know if that was the idea the devs had when they did not implement those functionalities in the game, but as strange as it seemed I think it turned out to be an OK call. You can still communicate if playing with friends over some other voice chat program. If you are playing with random people you can only give other players predefined signals (such as thumb up and so on) or ping places/objects in the level. So if you feel stressed playing multiplayer with ppl you don't know this might be the game for you:)
That said the player base seems to be active mostly during the weekend, out of that time frame it is hard to find other players online. The game can also be played solo with "synthetics" as your team mates, they do quite an adequate job, except maybe on the highest difficulty settings (where the game itself recommends not to use them). In general if you like aliens you'll probably like this game too.
The Pathogen expansion is also quite good in terms of content quality. However it delivers only 1 new campaign (compared to the 4 in the base game) and it costs half the base game price, so I would recommend getting it on sale.
Overall a very solid game that deserves much more love in my opinion:)
