Air Twister Review (charlieface1981)
This game is actually REALLY cool. It's super fun to play, looks great, has awesome music and also has TONS of "unlockables". You know, rewards that you earn while playing the game and completing challenges. NOT things you spend actual money on. These unlocks range from avatar costumes and cosmetics, to extra stages, to pieces of story/lore and music tracks. For me it gives me a reason to keep playing, although the game is still really relaxing and fun to play even without earning rewards. What I really like the most about it are the super surreal environments and grandiose presentation of the whole thing. It's all this crazy sort of dreamscape that I've never seen anything else quite like, and the enemy design, and MASSIVE, over the top and out of this world bosses that you encounter on a regular basis are AWESOME! Also, the different giant animal mounts that the player rides on vary throughout the game, but they're all really cool and unique. There a bunch of different modes to play and also daily and weekly challenges and stuff like that. All in all the game is quite a bit different than what I was originally expecting, but I think that's a big part of what makes it so cool and made me like it so much. A big triple A studio couldn't put out a game like this, and I'm glad that even though it won't sell millions of copies, they still put out a cool ass game that they wanted to make. I'll buy the next game the studio puts out also if and when they do. It runs very smooth on my mid-range rig, and like I said, the graphics are actually really nice and crisp. The game controls much differently that what I was expecting too, and at first I kind of didn't know if I liked how they handled it, but once I got used to it and started focusing on how to take out the enemies and bosses I began to actually appreciate how they have the controls set up. Just give it a shot and give it a chance and enjoy it for the unique experience that it is and you'll be glad that you did. I honestly would consider this game a current, modern hidden gem. It's definitely overlooked. This game doesn't seem to go on sale too often and when it does I think it only goes down from $25 to $20, which isn't a huge savings but it's something. I bought it early on because I knew it had Yu Suzuki behind it and I was excited and wanted to support his team, Ys Net, and anything they put out. I think the game is worth it's full price. Definitely recommended.
