Age of Wonders 4: Giant Kings Review (lev)

This is the best DLC for AOW4 (and one of the best DLCs for any turn-based strategy game)
On the surface, it may seem that the price for it is exaggerated: an additional type of ruler (giant), a neutral dwelling (crystals), 2 volumes, neutral units and dwellings. It doesn't seem to be much.
But, the main value in this DLC is the manual regions and related events. There are many of them. They're cool.
All the other DLCs were self-contained and had little effect on each other. If I'm playing a game for the dark lord, it almost doesn't matter if I have DLC with the dragon lord (and vice versa).
Everything is different here.
In each game (no matter what class and type of lord you choose), you will feel the impact of new content.
And, the most joyful thing for me is that the DLC fills in the part of the game that previously looked "empty":
The number of magic volumes, races, and classes was already huge, and the +X new units didn't really feel like it.
But it was necessary to diversify the map. Before, sometimes I lost the feeling of "exploring the magical world." I found a miracle, conquered it, and went on to the next one (the exception was the last mini-campaign from the Eldritch Realms DLC, both maps from it were worked out in great detail and beautifully). And now, I see a similar level of elaboration on ordinary random maps. Ancient sanctuaries, arenas, a bunch of new mini-events. The game really feels refreshed.
I strongly recommend that you buy this DLC. Believe me, the price is justified. It's worth the money.
And a small appeal to Triumph Studios (I support Maverick review):
PLEASE do expansion pass 3!
I hurts to think that we only have one more DLC!
Keep up the amazing work!
It would be great if you would strengthen the management of species.
