Agatha Christie: Hercule Poirot - The London Case Review (LakehawkCorp_25)
The story was fairly lacking. There really wasn't much in the way of suspense and intrigue. I wasn't particularly attached to any of the characters, and I honestly found Poirot to be a little unlikable in this game. Mostly, I found myself just wanting to finish the game and be done. I've played several agatha christie games and some sherlock holmes games, and I rarely found myself just waiting to be done.
One of the main problems is how repetitive everything is. You have about 6 or 7 small locations that you visit repeatedly. It takes ages to walk through each of the locations to get where you are going and then get back to the fast travel area. In one chapter, you might have to visit the same location 3 or 4 times. I also could not stand the mind paths. You had to take several tiny steps just to reach an overall conclusion that I made in a couple of seconds. There were times that I couldn't figure out what connected to what because it just didn't make sense. The same goes for some of the overall conclusions; they would jump to a random conclusion that we really didn't discuss. The reveal leaved a lot to be desired. There are so many plot holes and the so-called motivation was rather disappointing. There is absolutely a better motive out there that would have made the reveal much more compelling. Furthermore, we spent 7 1/2 chapters on one thing, only for the motive, opportunity, and person to be uncovered in a like 5 minute time frame. There was absolutely nothing suggesting that throughout the game. A great mystery leaves clues scattered throughout that, if you are paying attention, you may figure out. Even with Agatha Christie's tendencies for brilliant twists, if you go back and read again, you see the clues you missed the first time. There is nothing of the sort here, unfortunately.
I will also say that I had to quit the game several times because of bugs. I had to completely restart one of the chapters (after I had finished about 90% of it) because the game bugged and I couldn't continue a conversation that I had to have. The movement in the game also leaves a lot to be desired. I was always getting stuck on a person or object, or Poirot wouldn't interact with an object that I clicked on.
I think I spent $10 on this game, and I'm afraid to say that I regret spending that much.
