Across the Obelisk Review (OptiMystic)

Well, damn. I thought I'd only played this for a few days and it's apparently been 150 hours (give or take). Where did that time go.

This is a different take on the deck builder where you will select a group of characters with very different focuses and starting decks. Instead of building and curating 1 deck throughout the game, you'll be curating and attempting to synergise 4 different decks.

Experimenting with this game is just as fun as finding an almost cookie cutter spec that just works and laying waste. You can build out your deck with random cards that you pick up along the way, or you can keep it as trim and efficient as possible, depending on your playstyle (though you may struggle with larger decks at harder difficulties).

Unlike games like Slay the Spire or Monster Train where the game is essentially over when you lose, the game will give you the option to play again (with the same opening cards on both sides) to change strategy and see if you can take down the encounter a different way.

That this can be played solo or co-op just broadens the appeal and is good fun for different reasons in both situations.

This is right up there with Slay the Spire for me as among the best deck builders and I would strongly recommend.
