Achilles: Legends Untold Review (Atkinson_in_Bean)

I'm not recommending this game for two reasons.
1. The player is easily stun locked, by swarms of enemies (anything more than two). It's not like a souls game where you get one enemy to deal with. IMO being able to be stun locked as a player is the dumbest mechanic on the planet.
2. The stamina pool and regeneration rate is way way way too low (even maxed out) you'll find yourself with out any stamina to attack or doge. So on top of getting stun locked the player can find themselves in situations where their surrounded by enemies, and unable to move away (either by stun or lack of stamina; or even worse getting stuck on the environment)
Areas of less of concern but still annoying terms of game mechanics,
The enemies have this attack which the player cannot block, which they are quite fond of using it aaaaa lot. The wolves use it as their opening attack and you won't see the notification icon until it too late. The wolves also don't stick around to fight either, they circle you like a wolf would. However the players walking pace is too slow to catch them and running uses stamina, which you'll run out off instantly.
The attack animation will get interrupted, but attack speed isn't a parameter which can be upgraded or made player aware in the weapons menu.
I think the dev's are a little confused what they want to make (IMO), there is clear fight when playing the game between a souls-like rpg and a Diablo-esque action RPG. I think the devs should focus on the Diablo-esque style game and less on the souls-like; I think the setting and plot speak more to the former than the latter.
Aside from that, the graphics and animations are pretty good, the story is a little meh; but good enough to keep you engaged. The camera, especially for a isometric game, is pretty good. However those game play mechanics makes the game very very frustrating at times; enough to make you want to find a trainer and cheat.
