30XX Review (WowMyNameIsUnique)
I love this game! The pixel art style looks gorgeous compared to 20XX's cartoony design. The models are crisp and the backgrounds are beautiful. The unique stage themes changing as you reach certain sections like the boss fight and boss reward rooms are a fantastic touch, too. Most importantly, the gameplay is tight and feels great, exactly as a Mega Man X inspired game should!
If I had to complain about anything, I would say that some bosses still need some balancing... Especially the gear boss, "Lethal Tempo." The boss room is simultaneously too cluttered and chaotic to be fun or fair. If you don't have a weapon that hits vertically, the two upper gears are unreasonably difficult to interact with without tanking a hit or two. The rotating platform that is designed to help you reach those higher gears is ironically more of an obstacle than anything since it's massive and you can't jump through it or jump down from it. Make the platforms semisolid at the very least, please... I should also add that there's a corner in the bottom left portion of the room that you can hug to hide from literally every attack that comes your way. Frankly, even with the cheese that makes it a walk in the park, it's still a miserable boss encounter.
Other than that, I really enjoy the rest of the bosses. Hoot Omega is super fun to chase in his fight, although I feel it might be a tad too easy. You can cheese that boss too in the final room by just... not walking into it and sniping Hoot from afar with your buster.
As for weapons, some very much still feel more useful than others, although I realize that's still something being balanced. I just learned some weapons can interact with the environment which is a really charming detail, but I still think Clockzone's Negation Pulse is a must-have to avoid damage when things get chaotic, and vertically hitting moves are an obvious choice too, like the Rending Whirl tornado. Overall, there aren't any terrible ones; they're just outclassed, like Jagged Bolt.
Oh, and one more thing... some of the hub world menus are atrocious. It makes no sense to use the confirm and back buttons to add/remove modifiers. Use anything else, please. I want to hit the back button to leave menus. And please make it so modifiers save... I'm really tired of putting the same ones on every time I launch the game just so I can add one small modifier each time.
Besides that, I'm having a blast, and I'm excited to see this game continue to grow with future updates!
