Planetbase 2 Evolution
Hello Everyone,
As you might know, we are now working on Planetbase 2. We've just posted Dev Update 01 if you want to check the progress so far.
Much like Dawn of Man was a spiritual successor to Planetbase, Planetbase 2 now continues adding on top of the feature set available in Dawn of Man.
A lot of the best features in DoM will be making a comeback, we want players to feel at home right away when playing the game.
Direct controls and multi-select
Much like in Dawn of Man, in Planetbase 2 you will be able to select a bunch of people and tell them to go someplace, go work in a particular structure or go perform a particular task.
The game will try very hard to make micromanagement tasks as few and far between as possible, but sometimes you just need to tell colonists exactly what to do.
Work areas and complex resource limits
You will be able to place Work Areas, each associated with a number of workers and a resource limit.
Resource limits can be absolute, or expressed as a percentage of the total population.
The difference is that instead of Sticks, Fish or Crops, you will be mining Ice, Regolith, Iron Ore or Silica.
Realistic character proportions
In Planetbase 2, we are are moving away from the more cartoony character style we used for Planetbase 1 and we are using using Dawn of Man's character proportions, to achieve a more realistic look.
Transports and Machinery
In Dawn of man you have Sledges, Carts, and Plows, in Planetbase 2 we will have Rovers, Trucks, Mining Vehicles and Tankers.
There is obviously not a 1 to 1 match here, but vehicle management and construction will be a big part of the gameplay in Planetbase 2, like it is in Dawn of Man.
