Max Payne, Alan Wake 2, and Control legend James McCaffrey has died
James McCaffrey, the actor behind Max Payne, as well as Alex Casey in Alan Wake 2 and Director Trench in Control, has sadly died. Widely known for his work with Remedy, McCaffrey was an icon of gaming since his first appearance as the eponymous, hard-boiled Payne in 2001. Possessing one of the most distinctive voices in the entire business, his deep, gravelly tones became instantly recognizable, lending gravitas, character, and charisma to every role he played. According to reports, McCaffrey had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and died surrounded by family and friends at the age of 65.
