Cutesy and simple platformer, fun to play but ultimately pretty short and not a huge variety in platforming/puzzling. Only good value if it's on sale.

By comparison, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap is a much better remake of a Wonder Boy game, and has the best Wonder Boy soundtrack of all time, and Monster Boy and the Cursed Kingdom is a much longer and in-depth Wonder Boy style game

This game feels more like a puzzle game. Especially if you enter the 3rd world.
The fights are very easy and simple and game is very linear, especially the 4 worlds where you have to save the 4 spirits.
Otherwise the game feeling is very smooth and its fun to interact with Ashas little monster that helps her through the journey. The game has also some plattforming, but its easy to manage.

This is a wonderful game to play through, and the animation is top notch. Memorable characters, as well. So much to see and do. And having that creature the Pepelogoo to help you adds an original dimension.

Do be aware that, while it takes place in the same extended universe, you will not meet any "Wonder Boy" in this game. Instead you play as Asha (the second playable heroine in the series), who fights with a sword and shield. Also, do be aware that, if playing with an X-Box controller, by default, "A" is the "back"/"no" button, which will take getting used to!
