The ability to spec the dog into a second discipline is HUGE. I play with no tracks on, so I've become very dependent on blood tracking in order to find my downed animals in a timely manner. That said, the fact you have to wait until the dog is a pointer level 15 is... not ideal. The German Shorthaired Pointer is a HPR breed, it naturally hunts, points, and retrieves so why do you have to wait so long?? I can understand trying to train a bloodhound to retrieve may take a little longer, but its been a slog leveling up the pointing skill since you only gain pointing exp if the dog is in the pointing stage. If you shoot the prey before it starts to point, or if it spooks, or if you just don't find anything despite the dog searching for a while, the dog gains no exp.
I am absolutely heartbroken to see that only Liver was selected for the coat colors! My favorite are the black versions of the GSP and the fact there weren't like 3 liver and 3 black versions (maybe like solid black/solid liver, black and white, liver and white, black with ticking, liver with ticking, etc) was really disappointing. The team seemed so on point with the colors of the other dogs to the point of including the "silver" lab which isn't even a purebred color but missed out on literally the only other base color the breed comes in. (That said, the coats they did make are absolutely gorgeous to the point where I plan on buying more than one GSP).
Another feature that I've found frustrating so far is the major difference between how the dog acts between the different prey categories. There should ALWAYS be a stalk stage, even for large prey. I say this because the dog runs so, so very far away while looking for large game to where you need to sprint to keep up with it, and it's pretty easy to spook the prey before the dog transitions to baying it, which only occurs RIGHT next to the animal. The ability to see 'oh, the dog is stalking, this means the prey is somewhat close so I better slow down' would be fantastic regardless of prey size.
Also, baying =/= pointing. The dog being used to bark and hold large prey should have been reserved for an elkhound or a laika breed. I wish they'd change the term because seeing the dog just staring at a deer and barking at it is a totally different behavior than a quiet, rigid point stance.
