I reviewed the original outer worlds.
Got the spacers choice edition upgrade while it was on sale and further discounted due to me having the original with its DLCs, and while both high on an edible and delirious with the flu.
I stick by my original statement. It's a decent looter shooter, but a disappointing game that advertised itself as if it were a fallout new vegas spiritual successor.
I still dislike the game, but I have found that it can be quite enjoyable if you're high. Which isn't a ringing endorsement.
There is a foundation for an interesting RPG here, there really is. The world is interesting, the concept is interesting, but the execution leaned more towards borderlands lootershooter haha hehe funneh wannabe than fallout's narrative focus has and always will disappoint me.
If it didn't advertise itself with 'from the creators of fallout new vegas' so often back when it was first released, I wouldn't be so harsh. I just hope that the second Outer Worlds they're planning to make will lean more into story telling and create something I can find funny and yet take seriously at the same time.
Ironic that the game which satirizes unchecked capitalism and unrestrained corporations feels like it's made by a corporation that lacks innovations and chose safer routes to try and appeal to a grander audience rather than making something truly exciting.
You will always be one of the three saddest games i've ever played, Outer Worlds, and I think I wrote this review more for myself, than for anyone else.
