I get it.
The first few games I played on the Pinball M SYSTEM SHOCK table convinced me that it may well be the most boring, un-fun of any Zen FX table. And the general lack of friends on this leaderboard tended to add weight to my belief.
But I quickly realized that there is not likely any Zen table with easier extra balls, and that in theory, SYSTEM SHOCK games should last for hours and hours and score into the many billions while going through hundreds (or even thousands) of balls. But SYSTEM SHOCK is so incredibly well designed that even the near guarantee of extra balls on every ball is not enough to guarantee success. (Even when coupled with 3-ball multiballs that are nearly as common as extra balls, there are no guarantees offered on such a well-designed table as SYSTEM SHOCK is.)
But that doesn’t mean it’s a difficult table, even for beginners. Please continue…
I stopped thinking that SYSTEM SHOCK is a weak or poorly designed table well before I entered the Top 100 scores globally, and had some genuine pinball fun along the way! Admittedly, I’m not a very good player, though I have some decent scores. But on SYSTEM SHOCK even we average players can succeed. As an average player, most tables have features I’ve only read about, and I have tragically few memories of Wizard modes won or lost. But on this table, there are generally two ways to reach each goal; a slower, easier one, and a difficult, but quicker way. Generally speaking, everyone and anyone can do well on this table, if they have the time and patience to “learn” how the table reacts, and what its expectations are. From my limited experience of these few hours, I suspect that this is a table that will be remembered when many Zen tables have been forgotten.
You just have to spend some time getting to know it.
Rather than build what may be unrealistic expectations, I’ll stop here and let each player decide for themselves, should that be their choice.
Thank you for reading.
