How to fix the input Lag
NFS Most Wanted (2012) is a fun game as long you dont compare it to the original. However it is held down by severe input lag, which I have fortunately been able to fix by a little googling and finding a 4 year old thread with 20 upvotes.... I will share this info in case it is useful for anyone else who want to enjoy the game and to have some more visibility. Thanks to Cryio on Needforspeed subreddit for the fix.
Step 1:
Go to Documents > Criterion Games > Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted > Open config.NFS13Save ini file with notepad
Step 2:
Disable Vsync by changing VsyncInterval to 0 (VsyncInterval=0)
Step 3:
Documents > Criterion Games > Need For Speed(TM) Most Wanted > Save > 1004299468619 (could be different for you) and Open controls.NFS13Save ini file with notepad (you might need to open the game first and change some settings for this to show up)
Step 4:
Lower the right most value of STEERLEFT, STEERRIGHT, ACCELERATE, BRAKE, HANDBRAKE, NITROUS from 1.00 to 0.10
For eg, in my case it ends up looking like this:
STEERLEFT=0,KEY_A,0.00,0.10
STEERRIGHT=0,KEY_D,0.00,0.10
ACCELERATE=0,KEY_W,0.00,0.10
BRAKE=0,KEY_S,0.00,0.10
HANDBRAKE=0,KEY_SPACE,0.00,0.10
Optional Steps:
To disable the horrible screen tearing the game has when disabling vsync, use Borderless gaming app to play in Borderless fullscreen which will eliminate the screen tearing.
In NVIDIA control panel, set low latency mode for the game as ULTRA
