I really want to recommend this game, because I've been a fan of Killer Klowns for years, but I can't really do that with where the game is currently at. Here are some issues I have:
1. The 4 Klown classes were originally advertised as each having their own unique set of weapons and abilities - however, due to balancing issues, they had to remove some of the classes' main abilities (E.G; things like Trapper Rudy's baby Klown traps and Tank Chubby's sticky bash) and made it so every class can now use every weapon and ability. In my opinion, this has pretty much ruined the class system and eliminates the feeling of having a unique role in a Klown team. I was really looking forward to playing the trapper role and using the Klown-in-a-box traps, but that now class doesn't even exist anymore. I also feel that Chubby can hardly be called a "tank" after the changes; yes he can take a couple more hits than other Klowns, but his movement speed actually makes him more of a target than a threat to opportunistic groups of humans. He either needs more health, so he can actually tank damage, or he needs some kind of damaging/crowd control AOE to punish/deter groups of organised attacking humans - like he was supposed to have.
2. Lackeys kinda suck. Any new human player will quickly learn that lackeys are very easy to avoid and even easier to kill - as it stands, they're barely a threat. One of their primary uses is to help Klowns transport cocoons to generators, but lackeys won't just pick up any cocoon they find in the world. Lackeys will only ever offer to carry a cocoon if you pick one up within a certain radius of them - in other words; if a lackey isn't close enough to see you picking up the cocoon, you have to drop/throw the cocoon closer to them, then pick it up back up so the lackey notices it and offers to transport it for you, then you have to drop it again so the lackey can pick it up... This gets very tedious after a while. Why can't they just see that you're holding a cocoon when you get near to them? When you fill up a generator by placing 4 cocoons in it, this should upgrade the lackeys from that generator - maybe making them faster?
3. The invisible car is useless. When you activate the ability it takes so long for your Klown to actually get into the car and, when you do hit a human with it, it causes both the Klown and human to get stunned for the same length of time! It doesn't even damage the human? In the movie, Slim was able to ram a real car off the road with his invisible car - in this game, hitting a soft fleshy human causes the car to crash and throw the Klown to the ground. This ability definitely needs a rework, because it's currently just a worse version of the pizza box and isn't worth choosing. It would be cool if it was an insta-kill that flattened the human or took a chunk of health away, but has a very long cooldown so it's not too broken.
4. Klown cosmetics are very disappointing. The choices feel very limited and the same assets are reused in areas - some of the hairstyles you unlock are the same between Klowns with little to no variation. There are also 5 cotton candy guns to unlock and two of them have the same exact design as two previous weapons; the Gigaray is just a puppet holding the Pentashot, and the Laser beamer is just a puppet holding the standard ray gun. Part of progressing through a game like this should be about unlocking cool NEW looking weapons and ways to customise your character - and this is Killer Klowns From Outer Space! There should be going all out and designing sorts of imaginative wacky weapons and cosmetics.
5. I've watched the movie loads of times and I wish they stuck a bit closer to the origional designs. The models in the game just feel a bit... off? For example; one of Rudy's main defining features was his big upper lip/snout-like mouth and droopy zoinked-out face - you also couldn't really see his teeth. In this game, it's like they've went off-model to try and push the generic "creepy unsettling clown" look, and kinda lost the charm of the original designs by doing so. I mean, in the main screen and pizza Klownality, Chubby is missing his hair! The game has been out for months and they still haven't they fixed it - did they forget to add that part of his hairstyle in or what, because the hairstyle isn't like that in the character customisation options. I really would have expected to have a bit more attention to detail with the main characters of the movie/game.
Ultimately, instead of adding an in-game store and trying to rake in money by selling us characters that should already be free to play in the game, they should be focusing on fixing the abilities that were supposed to be in the game and designing new maps/weapons/unlockable cosmetics. On top of that, they need to lower the current price, because there's not enough content in the game to justify asking for that much - this would also hopefully bring in some fresh players, which the game is definitely in need of. If they don't pull it back soon, this game is going to lose what's left of it's player base and be dead by the end of the year.
P.S: I'm also really surprised that there isn't already a map that's the inside of the spaceship? Like, I was sure that that was something they showed off in the gameplay trailers?
