***EARLY-ACCESS: All reviews I make of early-access games are to be taken with a grain of salt. Inconsistencies, bugs, and quality of life issues are expected to exist to some degree!
ONE SENTENCE REVIEW:
A very fun VR John Wick/Deadpool simulator that has a wide array of weapons, crazy gore and dismemberment, a really cool slow motion feature, and an overall awesome vibe and atmosphere, unfortunately accompanied by a decent lack of content as well as some bugs and quality of life issues.
PROS:
- Wide variety of guns to choose from, as well as both blunt and sharp melee weapons.
- Addicting atmosphere and gameplay, definitely makes you feel like you're in an action movie!
- Awesome features like slow-motion, intense gore, and immensely interactive physics that allow you to do things like slowing down time and disarming an enemy, removing the magazine and chambered round and then throwing the enemy off of a rooftop, all in a matter of seconds.
CONS:
- Repetitive "sandbox-syndrome" where the ability to do whatever you want (in a sense) can become monotonous and boring.
- Lack of additional content makes trying to navigate through different types of game modes practically non-existent, there is really only a wave-mode and a sandbox-mode and that's it.
- Ride Mode, which advertises itself as the "story mode" of the game, is really just wave-mode that has 3 categories: short, medium, and long ride, but none of them contain much (if any) story-telling and/or campaign-esque elements.
- Buggy A.I. enemies that struggle to navigate rather simplistic environments such as stairs, as well as struggling or even refusing to initiate aggression towards the player when the enemy is fighting with melee weapons or hand-to-hand combat, unless the player is practically on-top of the enemy.
SUMMARY:
Sandbox VR games... they all usually have the same downfall point, Hard Bullet included.
The game is great don't get me wrong, there's a ton of different weapons, the gore is INSANE, we've really only seen that level of gore in a VR game before with Blood Trail, and the overall gameplay is a lot of fun. However, the fall of all Sandbox VR games is that, it gets boring. Really boring. I feel like this could be solved by trying to branch out and add some game modes and features that other sandbox games don't have. Other than that though, it's great and I enjoy it a lot.
Side note, gotta fix the AI. Walking up or down stairs is a nightmare for them, and melee/hand-to-hand combat enemies constantly hesitate to come at you until YOU get right on top of them, even if the player is also unarmed. They need to be more aggressive and actually try and hit the player first without the player having to literally stick their face 6 inches away from the enemy's face.

DIFFICULTY TIER:
S - Two Betrayals or The Library from Halo:CE on Legendary w/ All Skulls On
A - Navigating The Antlion Infested Coastline in HL:2 Without The Buggy And Just A Crowbar
B - Left 4 Dead "No Mercy" On Expert
C - CoD: WaW "Little Resistance" on Hardened
D - Playing Cloning Clyde By Looking At The Screen Behind You With A Mirror
* - Telltale's The Walking Dead Quick Time Events
F - Minecraft Creative Mode
*(Being primarily a sandbox VR game, the difficulty is entirely dictated by the settings you choose or don't choose to enable, overall, it's rather easy to get into the swing of.)
THE 5-RATINGS:
Graphics - 8/10 (Not bad at all, could be better, some occasional and slight "stuttering" when large enemy #s are present.)
Gameplay - 8/10 (Other than a few minor weird inconsistencies with hand-to-hand combat, gameplay is awesome.)
Comfort/Quality of Life - 6/10 (Can be easily disorienting for newer VR players, for seasoned VR players it is comparable to Boneworks or Bonelabs, QoL definitely needs love.)
Community - 10/10 {N/A} (Single-player game only at the moment, so the Community category is not applicable at this time and will receive full points.)
Content - 2/10 (Definitely needs more content, only two modes {technically 3 I guess: Ride Mode which is waves but "story-driven"? Sandbox, and the Arena mode which is essentially sandbox and Ride Mode clashed together} and one of them is falsely advertised, and the other can get very boring.)
