The content is fine. Like everything else in CK 3 it could use more depth. Fortunately, some mods already were steering in the direction of expeditions and stuff so this makes for a good foundation. The skill trees themselves could use some tweaks IMO but other than that nothing to really gripe about.
People say it should be free or the price of a coffee are dumb IMO. It's $5 and is something that I imagine the cost of the employees working on it exceeds the cost of the theoretical coffee in Sweden. This analogy is dumb as hell to begin with. You enjoy a coffee for a few minutes or you baby sip it. This gives you far more time so how does this comparison happen? Like fair if you say it don't got enough content and that the DLCs in general should be maintained through adding some frosting on top but this whole every DLC should be free stuff is stupid. Also people saying it should be a bonus to pre order??? Are we really going to cry about the price and then encourage pre-ordering??? So weird.
The downside like others mentioned is I feel incentivized to go after the focus that my character's education is based on rather than choosing wanderer. I think how this is handled should be re-addressed in some way. Perhaps having a minor focus with slower progress as a concept in general? That would be a nice little buff to learning if that education could have an effect on minor lifestyle/focuses. I think having quirks like those to each of the lifestyles would give a little more reason to choose one over the other rather than it just coming down to whatever your character's stats seem like they're gonna end up being or whichever focus is the one that's most useful for you.
Tl;dr: I think $5 is fine for an initial release.
