It saddens me that no matter which company I look into, all of them keep pushing for shady, predatory and anti-custumer practices. I played Borderlands 1 on PS, played Borderlands 2 on PS and loved it so much I actually bought it on Steam again, Bought and played Borderlands 3 even more, but in face of recent changes 2K made to their TOS I'm leaving the franchise (and all of 2K). The worst part is they are retroactively changing the deal they already made with me on past games I already own and played. I don't care if the product is digital media or physical, changing the terms of the deal AFTER the sale is illegal (despipe governments continue blindness to it specially on digital media), and I'll never support or tolerate it.
New TOS includes:
COLLECTION OF USERNAMES AND PASSWORDS, IP LOCATIONS AND BROWSER HISTORY DATA.
Important Info in ToS:
• Mods are a bannable offense
• Display of Cheats/Exploits is bannable (even on SINGLE-PLAYER games! You want to ban cheaters on competitive or pvp oriented multiplayer games, AWESOME! BAN THEM ALL! But 2K has no business dictating how I choose to play MY Single-player games. Also, if the evidence to determine a cheater is the same as Bethesda did with Fallout 76, where they banned ppl just because they had Cheat Engine installed on their PCs (not actually running when Fallout was being played just installed), then F off too)
• Forced arbitration so long as it is permitted in your region
• You can be banned for the using a VPN while connecting to online servers
• Cannot access game content on a Virtual PC
• Best last they reserve the right to modify this Agreement, in whole or in part, at any time (again, changing the terms of the sale after the sale is ILLEGAL in pretty much the entire world)
A company who's CEO was accused of leaving a USB with illegal material on it as well as sensitive data of Gearbox/2K partners in a medieval themed restaurant wants all your delectable data and will never let anyone gain access to your data intentionally or not. ᴾʳᵒᵐᶦˢᵉ
