Gylt İnceleme (PikaLink91)

I got the game on launch and 100%'ed it on my PS5, and now I bought it again here on Steam to support the developers and tell ya'll to go and buy it too!
Gylt is neither revolutionary nor perfect, but it is a little kid friendly Silent Hill x Alan Wake horror game, that is full of heart and charm. Initially launching on the ill fated Stadia, the game got another chance here on Steam and PSN, and if you're anything like me - someone who likes things that mix various genres and don't fit into one specific category - then you will love this indie gem.
The game is relatively short (took me around 12 hours on PS5 cuz I like to take my time and explore), but playtime - although a widely discussed topic - should in my opinion be of no concern if the game is good and the story it wants to tell fits within that time. Like how a 12 episode anime can be just as- or even more impactful than a 52 episode anime. It is all about how effectively you use the time given.
With that outta the way, while it doesn't add a whole lot of extra hours to the clock, Gylt comes packed with lore to unravel and secrets to find, in the form of diaries, portraits, birdcages etc, making sure that you have a reason to look around extra carefully if you are the completionist type. My first time around I swore I had looked everywhere, but still my index told me I had missed a whole heap of things, that I then had a blast going back and trying to find (afterall, it ain't fun if it's too eas), as I loved navigating the world and the mc Sally who is very fluid to control.
On that note, keep in mind that until a certain point before end game (the game will be very clear about when this is), you can ALWAYS go back to previously visited areas in case you missed something!
I was looking forward to Gylt after hearing it was gonna get re-released, and although various luke-warm reviewers initially discouraged me from dipping, I took the plunge anyway, and I am very glad I did!
Again, Gylt doesn't revolutionize or do anything remarkable that you haven't already seen before if you are seasoned in the action/adventure/horror genre, but what it does it does extremely well; from the sombre but colourful graphics and cartoony artstyle that gives the game a visual identity all its own, to the atmospheric soundtrack, the well-done voice acting bringing the characters to life, to the polished gameplay where you run around the city- and school premises, fighting off shadow creatures with your flashlight, and choose to be either sneaky or aggresive about it.
For what Gylt offers, $20 is more than reasonable, and I hope we see more within this universe!
