Downwell Review (arikus8)
Very simple, very difficult.
The general gameplay is that you are falling down constantly (a/d for left/right) and you have limited bullets to hit enemies/slow down (space). When you land on the ground or on an enemy you replenish your supply of bullets. When an enemy hits you, you take one damage (4 life to start). The real challenge of this game is that it's so rapid, and to survive and excel you will need combos (kill x amount of enemies without touching the floor--bubbled off areas don't count as the floor for combos). For example, a 9 combo grants 100 gems (currency for shops), 10 and up grants life and gems, even higher gives you more bullets permanently.
There are 5 play styles, 4 of which you unlock as you earn gems. They don't affect the game a whole ton, just give minor perks. Most of what you unlock is palettes. The starting palette is red/white, then you get green/white followed by blue/white. There are a lot of different palettes to unlock and they all add a nice aesthetic touch to the game.
Great game.
10/10.
